Second Day of Advent

on this second day of advent,
the clouds hang low
icicles from the eaves
have not found their glow
winds blustery, unkind,
placed a stay
on my mind
as I wrestle
with this season
in the wake
of inhumankind

yet
all of me within
knows the reason
for this time
to rejoice anew
His promise to
all His children
in seasoned mind

crimson
and emerald,
evergreen
and gold
flourish celebration
of the gift
both new and old
a present
of eternal worth,
a ransom
of great power,
the morning,
in the dawn of day,
He blessed us with
that hour

more
Supercalifragilistic
all the way
to docious,
there was not
a greater gift,
by any human
notion,
in likeness of blessing
the living that He’s done
to save us all
to be with him
when new heaven
and new earth
are everlastingly
won

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Nicely done Virginia, you've captured the season of Advent very well here. I liked this a lot.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

Loved it especially this:

Supercalifragilistic
all the way
to docious,
