Silent sobs heard in the night A child cries in fear’s first flight Resounding slap of hand on flesh another bruise, tonight’s is fresh Carolers sing in distant voice listening now, without a choice he wonders of the songs they sing of the hope each verse would bring What is this “Joy” of which they sing? What are the gifts these wise men bring? Does this child’s mother slap his thighs to silence the babe’s nighttime cries? Eyes of brown, tinged with red crying now in ragged bed never knows the beauty of Jesus and his healing love |

OMG this one stopped me in my tracks! Sharon I don't quite know what the word is I'm looking for here. This is a very sobering, stike the heart kind of piece! I love this one, and it gives one much thought. This is excellent! God bless those little ones always! <*\\\>< I know not what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future. I don't question YOUR existance - GOD |

Hello Sharon. You penned a very touching poem, it shows your big heart Too many children are being mistreated (one is too many). If only the spirit of Christmas could reach each and every one. Thanks for the message and I wish you and yours a pleasant holiday ...chanson~ Music, tonal clear & pure, Caresses the harshest of curves. ---Song of Gesture |

A very sad, but too true image presented here, Sharon. Well done. We should all wish that victims of any type of violence find peace and joy this Christmas. I read in the paper today, about two more babies that died by the hands of their fathers. One 5 months old, the other 9 months old. What's wrong with people? Your poem is a sad reality, that there are many children who will never know the joy and magic of a Christmas filled with love. |

Something to make you think...heartbreaking that these things can happen to a child. |

This was so sad.........so sad. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I hate your socks. I'd like to burn them! |

A truly great Christmas would be to save one more child from this kind of treatment. Wonderful poem! |
