Christmas in San Diego Christmas near the border, San Diego’s funky style Wreaths of red hot chilies Warm and sunny all the while. The festival of lights at night Boats glittering on the bay A mix of many cultures Traditions in harmony. You won’t find a single snowflake You may be wearing summer attire A day at the beach is called for A campfire, the only fire. But though tobogganing Isn’t on the agenda I think you’ll still find Christmas joy Dining alfresco at my Hacienda! The church is Spanish in style We’re proud of our history, You cannot best the weather Or unravel the mystery. And if we happen to crave snow Or hear the call of the desert’s lure A short drive will take us there, For certain, spiritual cure. © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

A great illustration of how other countries and cultures define christmas. I have often wondered if christmas would be the same without snow and wether it would feel the same. Its obviously the emotion not the climate that counts. I enjoyed this very much. Thanks for Posting Regards Olias. |

Well....... I think that climate gives off a certain vibe towards the whole christmas celebration. I love Christmas in Puerto Rico, it's a very festive time of year here. We take out our maracas, guiros, tamborines, and drums and play till January! Great poem though! It gave a warm sensation I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I hate your socks. I'd like to burn them! |

Well, I certainly don't know what a warm Christmas is like, but it sounds delightful. Your poem is very picturesque, like a verbal postcard. I really like the poems that allow me to see what I am reading. Well done. |

Really beautiful, Corinne! I can't imagine a Christmas without snow, but you didn't make it sound all that bad. Elizabeth |

Corrine, this will be my first Christmas ever without snow,(just moved to the South) but I will be spending part of it in San Diego! My husband was born there and I love it! It's such a beautiful place and your description of Christmas really gets me excited to be there! |

Living in London, in the South of England we don't have snow or sun, we have rain and rain and more rain. You painted a nice picture of a different christmas. "shun the frumious Bandersnatch!" Killer222 :) |
