There was never any question
Of what Annies' wish would be
She climbed upon his waiting lap
And smiled up at him so sweet
There is only one thing on my list
A special wish you see
Santa all I want this Christmas Day
Is for you to bring mommy back to me
She went to heaven a month ago
And ever since that night
My daddy's eyes are full of tears
Even when I hold him tight
I dont know how to make him smile
To take his hurt away
Except for mommy to be there come Christmas Day
I havent been a real good girl
But Santa I promise I will try
I'll make my bed and clean my room
And I promise not to lie
So keep the bike and the dolly
And all the other toys
I've learned they dont mean nothing
They cant bring me any joy
I'll leave you milk and cookies
And even carrots by our tree
So you can rest in where its warm
But please bring mommy back to me
She looks up in the old mans eyes
Ands sees the truth on his tear stained face
Her little shoulders tremble
And she looks about the place
At all the other parents
Suddenly holding their children tight
Then her eyes fall on the nativity
With its star shining so bright
I guess I really shouldnt ask
For something even God couldnt do
So I'll say goodbye
Santa please dont cry
Merry Christmas to you.

Very sad.......but a great poem nonetheless

Very sweet poem. At least she has the hope of seeing mommy in heaven some day.
