A Cry To Sunder The Stillness O’er sun and sail this wintry day Not cloud nor bow in thy wake Shimmering glass and emerald isles Lay upon the moonlit bay Golden lochs and reddened leaves Humming along the breeze A cry to sunder the stillness The proud heron grieves Sinister cast overhanging the sky Pale dwarf to them but I Reflecting upon the operose glow Strange silouhette now coming nigh Caught along the shallow tide Come hither to the shore A beauty begotten by the deep Sought afar and wide Apprise thee in your fluid state What way the wind doth blow A yearning to the silent waves And befuddled by their fate… ^_^ Amanda Piatt aka LadySofia Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate, Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date. Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimmed; And every fair from fair sometimes declines, By chance or nature's changing course, untrimmed. But thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st; Nor shall death brag thou wand'rest in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st. So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. William Shakespeare |

Thank you, Alle'cram, very much. I find that still water can be at times a mystery in its silence, rarely broken but by the waves created by its inhabitants. It is very uplifting in the spirit. -------------------------------------------- Thank you, Sunshine! This place is so full of faith and courage. I can't get into Homestead to view my email...sorry dear! Can you? The URL is:www.homestead.com -------------------------------------------- This poem was a metaphor about a lateral judgement. A soul on the verge of the divide between "stillness" of the soul, (harmony with nature, "communing with the waters") and the (devilish lure of the city) dark, operose glint of sin on the horizon. The soul chooses the shore where the silent, shallow waters lap. Can you guess which side the soul chose from the last paragraph? ^_^ Amanda Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Amanda, The metaphor flew right over my head on the first read. The poem was so strikingly beautiful, I only heard it's music. You are very talented. I enjoy your work. This is a wonderful poem I look forward to more Liz |
