LOVE IS A HEAVENLY GIFT

I traveled to the park today
to sit amist the flower and trees
to feel the sunshine on my face
and the warmth of the gentle breeze

Leaning up against the willow tree
my mind went back in time
as I watched the couples pass me by
remembering the love that once was mine

The way he held my hand
made me feel secure and safe
the way his gentle kisses
brought a crimson flush to my face

His sweet sounding laughter
had a chain reaction affect
his big round eyes full of compassion
made me so happy that we met

Never afraid of the words I'm sorry
always ready to compromise
he loved the happiness of peace
believed in a life of truth not one of lies

As the sun reflects off the tears
that make their pathway down my face
I remember he is with God
amist heaven's glory and grace

I know I can't ask God the whys
that caused me such grief and strife
but now I know I was blessed
for my man taught me the love of life

The quality of true love
no matter how short or long
is a gift given from God
full of rights and no wrongs

I miss you my darling
but I carry all you gave to me
I know the real meaning of love
and its worth so full and free

So as I brush my tears away
on my face a smile rest
for God loved me that much
that he gave me you his very best

I return from my past
looking at the couples pass me by
hoping their love will last and last

That they will treasure as I did
every moment together spent
