MY FRIEND I have a friend very dear to me. When I'm in need, He's always near to me. He always listens to what I have to say, And He always answers in His own special way. He keeps me strong when I feel weak. He brings happiness when I feel meek. With love true friendship does accord, I have a friend, I call Him Lord. He came to me when I couldn't stand. A stranger to me, He held out His hand. He helped me up from that shallow place, While my enemies couldn't look on His face. He opened my eyes so that I could see What my one true friend has done for me. And all true friendship would afford, True is my friend, I call Him Lord. He carried my burdens for me, When I saw no way out, He set me free. My problems, He took on as His own, So I'd never have to walk alone. My friend, He took on all my strife. My friend, He laid down His own life... That in His rising glory I may be restored. Glorious is my friend, I call Him Lord. I have a friend, He's your friend too. He will always be there for you. It was for you, after all, that He came. Still, (in His book of life), He longs to write your name. So on the day when you're in need, In your darkest hour, feeling your soul bleed. When you're sure nothing could make it right, Let my friend guide you unto His light. Open His book and read His word, He is your friend, Jesus Christ, the Lord. Michael |
