His Hand

Blindfolded I crawl along the stony path,
My knees are bleeding.
The frustration shows on my tear-stained face.
My heart knows which way to go,
But the world won't let me see
The stony path ahead.

Then an angel softly whispers,
"Stretch our your hand."
In blank hope I reach up.
I feel the nail print in the hand
That is holding mine.
He gently pleads, "Come follow me."

The wounds on my hands and knees
Are slowly healing.
I find comfort to know
I no longer have to search for my way.
Total reliance and faith is all I need
As He leads me back.

The path is still stony,
At times I may stub my toe.
But there are angels to pick me up
When I have forgotten how to fly.
I am getting stronger,
But some of the places He leads me
Give me hurt and pain.

So I hold on tighter,
Begging Him to give me peace.
Sometimes He whispers,
"This trial will make us closer."
Then when He thinks I have had enough,
He leads me to a smooth path
Where my wounds can heal.

But the only way I can get back
Is if I hold on to His Hand.

Oh Karen, I find no words to describe your heavenly poem. You gave me a visual of your walk. Oh, I need to feel His nail print too!
This is so humbling. Thank you. marcy

The stony path can be pretty rough but when it's the one Jesus is leading and keeping us on, it's also very rewarding with everlasting benefits.  Nice work, thank you.

WELCOME! This is very descriptive!
Without the hard times we never grow to appreciate the good times. One thing you reminded me of is when he said, Come, follow me.  He didn't ask do you want to. He said it with conviction, Come, follow me!  This is well done! I hope we'll get to see more

Thanks everyone!  Life is a journey just like this one.  It is impossible to find your way without the love of Christ in your life.  Thanks again.

Hi Karen!
I just found your poem. Very powerful! It sure does get frustrating at times, and you're right-on saying how the world can blind us. I like how you illustrated this, he heals us, he comforts us, and we definitely need to keep holding his hand tightly. Great poem Karen!

A beautiful description of His love for us. I enjoyed it greatly.
