Dear Lord, please help me get through this,
My emotions are running on high,
And please, always walk beside him,
As these tears of mine You dry.
     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She catches sight of her youngest son,
Sitting down in the crowd with his peers,
Waiting to hear his name being called,
Her pride mingling in with her tears.
She thinks back to those bygone days,
That passed in the blink of an eye,
And she's sure that only yesterday,
He was just a little guy.
It couldn't have been that long ago,
She first saw his boyish charms,
As she took that little bundle of blue,
And first held him in her arms.
As "Pomp and Circumstance" starts to play,
She comes back to where she should be,
The tears fall freely down her face,
As she sees him get his degree.
Her heart is filled with pride and joy,
For this boy - this man - her son,
And she lets go of a little bit more,
As the next leg of his journey's begun.
And though the day is bittersweet,
It's not as bad as it seems,
He'll say his goodbyes, get on with his life,
And start realizing his dreams.
Congratulations Josh, we love you!!!!
Oh, Bonnie, I'm in tears too! I know exactly how you feel. They're babies one minute and the next they're grown. Wher does the time go? Only a mothers heart can know this joyful pain. My heart is with you! Love to you dear friend and Jesus' love and assurance that He will walk with Josh each step of the way. Ellie
I have yet to reach that stage. But I did cry when my youngest one went to kindergarten.
They do grow so fast, and the time just whizzes by. Very touching Bonnie, and tell him Congrats GRAD!
Amen to all earlier comments.  It's a beautiful piece of the many mixed emotions experienced in the love of a child.  Congratulations to Josh for his accomplishments and to you for capturing this time of feelings so elequently.
