GARDENS OF TOMORROW The warm spring rains fall on the empty earth of my little garden place. It's to soon to plant, only to dream and plan the beauty that will fill this empty space. Lord, You've emptied me of the pride, I hope. The negative thoughts and fears. Your Grace digs deep, to uproot the old debris. Leaving fertile emptiness waiting for the danger of frost to pass. The warmth of the Son, and Mays sweet embrace, combine in this garden and heart. Waiting for beauty yet to behold with delight But what of today my Lord? As I really look with eyes of Love at the garden place, and my heart within. The Lily I planted last year, is pushing up into life. The butterfly bush is greening some, and the lavender is smelling sweet. In my heart, in my soul, Your Grace ever present there, has grown the gifts you planted long, long ago. So let me not dream of tomorrows gifts, but rejoice in the ones of today. 02 |

ellie, I've run out of adjectives to describe such a lovely poem. Comparing our spiritual growth with nature. Your poetry overwhelmes me at times. Truly beautiful. Bless You, Marcy |

Another springtime refreshment you're sharing! Just last week, I was looking at the tulips wondering how long before their brilliant petals will be outstretched, then thought how fickle I am already overlooking the sunny daffodills and violets that are in full bloom. |

Ellie you really outdid yourself on this one. This is so lovely it reminds me of how a young person prepares his life with an education, and Christian training, and waits on the Lords to provide their future, whatever that may be. I know that is not probally not exactly what you intended with it, but it could have so many meanings for everyone. |

This is a very beautiful Poem. It alludes to the Song of Solomon in my mind which is one of my best loved poetic works. "Awake O north wind, and come, O south! Blow upon my garden, that its spices may flow out. Let my beloved come to his garden and eat its pleasant fruits." To me it speaks of Christ and his bride (the church). Our heart is the garden planted by his hand in which he loves to walk in the cool of the day (It has been so from the beginning). The place of communion and fellowship with God. Thankyou for sharing this. Keep writing! Did you know that the old testament is 1/3 poetry? It now is mostly unrecognizable to us because of translation, and lack of knowledge of Hebrew forms. It says something to me that God chose to reveal 1/3 of his holy word through poetry! Just to think that we can continue a legacy that began with the Psalmists and other poets is amazing! May it also encourage you to keep writing to the praise of his glorious name. |

Dear Ellie, Yourwords speak of the Natural Loviness which God gives and will yet give- just as Spiritually- what He has given, is but a foretaste of glory beyond measure after while. Let us keep looking to & for the Goodness & Blessings of & for our lives! David (ROMAMS 11:22) "Our Creativity points to a Higher Creator--we couldn't have just happened, and for what ability we may possess--to God be the glory." -dlw- |

Oh, what a lovely verse you write! Ellie, please know that I have been reading all of the poems on this forum, and your lovely responses to mine, but I can't keep up with responding because of family needs right now. This is just beautiful, Ellie |

Ellie...this is divine...I snuck in this morn for the light that always shines in this room... and was treated to a walk in the garden of Eden (smile) this is one of my favs of your...though its hard to pick. take care sweet precious Ellie love ya, jm Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders And it makes me want to touch you there. And the light in your eyes makes me feel Like there's something much better out there Something kind... And I know someday I might be looking around Trying to find some purpose Well purpose it can't be that hard to find As long as I've got the wind... The wind and your love to carry me. vertical horizon |
