One God Gentle adoration on the Virgin Mary’s face And passing by the pilgrims looking up in reverent grace For this is more than just a shrine, facades in fine relief For every candle lit, a prayer; for every prayer, belief This place in old Jerusalem, the origins of Eve A temple once destroyed still lives for those who still believe They come from all around the world and pray in humble awe In Yiddish or in any tongue before the Wailing Wall A place within Cambodia, a temple of refuge Withstood the bombs and sordid wrath and terror of Kmer Rouge They damaged walls but not the faith, the pilgrims still appear Ankar Vat remains a holy shrine throughout the years The Kaaba sits in Mecca, where the millions come to pray And walk around it seven times in Islams given way They bathe in waters then into a mosque they fall and kneel Rituals that cleanse past deeds and help the spirit heal The sounds of soul resound from out the little southern church Echoing the faith and love within the souls they search Clapping hands and vibrant songs, swaying in the pews It’s spirituals handed down from generations past they use The pilgrimage to holy shrines are echos of the past As long as there is faith, religious rites will surely last To each his own and each his faith, each worship in his place Seems to me that all are blessed with one God’s Heavenly Grace Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 04-17-2000).] |

Liz you've out done yourself! My thoughts are they can take away buildings or destroy them, but they can't take what's inside of you. They can't take away your faith! |

Liz, You give us a world view of devotions which are not detered, which help bring out the most noble traits in humanity. Faith & believing are truly great sources of Spiritual & religious observances around the world. And the more God is sought by man, the more He will be found. Thank you for this interesting poem, David "Our Creativity points to a Higher Creator--we couldn't have just happened, and for what ability we may possess--to God be the glory." -dlw- |

Liz:How wonderfully you took us to all those shrines and to think of all that worship there is really amazing! One God loves us all. I really felt the inspiration here. Ellie 02 |

How beautifully you captured traditions of religion. Throughout all the world, regardless of these holy traditions, still there is only one way to be forgiven our sins, the blood of Jesus. Just beautiful. Marcy |

Absolutely beautiful! So often I'm saddened by the hostility between denominations in our own country, as if they're unaware of serving the same God in different ways. You've broadened this to incorporate the world so nicely. |
