As a kid of only three
I remember Grandma, dragging me
to Sunday School and on to Church,
the second row , to the right, scrunched up
no place to stretch or make a sound
for Grandma's stare, sure sat me down!
Routinly, Grandma carried me
far beyond the age of three.

Each day, Grandma knelt in prayer
side by side,I knelt with her
with folded hands and heads bowed low
I watched her face, sometimes aglow,
indeed I knew, right then and there,
Sight unseen, faith not denied
at the tender age of five.

One Sunday, Grandma sick in bed
to Sunday School and Church I head,
without a thought of being lead,
I could not wait, now a sheep, being fed.

The times were hard, no men around to keep the house repaired,
Grandma said don't worry, our needs He will supply,
earthly possessions, not willed for you and I.

When Jesus took her home with Him
She prepared me for this day
Don't be sadden for me, my child
for happy I shall be,
Eternal bliss forever,
our purpose don't you see!

I never take for granted
the gift afforded me,
for Grandma taught me of His love
and how He sets men free,
all of this and much more
before I learned my A-B-C's.

Dear Erie: I love this poem! So beautifully written. I have to tell you that I owe my faith, in part, to my granmother too. I always think of her as the best angel God ever sent me. Thanks you for this lovely reminder. Love, Ellie

One of the best gifts they can give. What a lovely tribute to what she gave you. What comes to mind is...train up a child in the way they should go, and they shall not depart from it.

What lovely thoughts and tender piece of your heart you've shared with us. Thank you!

I think there must be a special crown of stars for Grandmothers who take such care to see that their Grandchildren learn about God through their example. I thank God everyday for the one I had. Lovely tribute to your grandmother!

Thank you ellie, Pepper, Denise, WhtDove, sandrain, Stepsong and Regina for your sweet, kind remarks. Faith, powerful word, but my Grandma's guidance brought me up in such a way that it was as natural then as it is real today. I wanted to add, but could not find the words, I knew at that young age, Jesus answered her every prayer because the next day or so, she always "thanked Him". She taught me much.  Bless you all, Marcy
