Empty Eyes

I look into the eyes, empty of all that's good,
the blackness and coldness go on forever.
I see a reflection of me, where I once stood,
the part of me, the one that I had to sever.
There is the sinner that has to keep fighting,
I'm in the middle and each wants it their way.
One doesn't fight fair, to win it'll stop at nothing,
It wants to mold me like a piece of clay.
Can't let it be victorious, the price is much too high,
it wants to trick me, make me think it's a friend,
I pray to my Jesus, please come down from the sky,
throw it into fire lake, bring the battle to an end.

"The grace of the Lord be with you all."
- Rev. 22:16
"Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then I would fly away and be at rest."
- Psalm 55:6

Oh Ellie, I can relate to this so well.... and I will read the words in the last two lines and put them to good use daily.... You've written this lovely poem right from the heart and it is so very touching.  Thanks, Bonnie

Dear Erie; We have the victory in Christ Jesus. You have said it well here, beautifully written. His Grace gives us the power to recognize the enemy and the choice to let Him fight the battles for us. WOW!
                  Love, Ellie

Dear Erie, You know, as I was reading your lovely poem, it could apply to us. The struggles we have with flesh, when serving the one true God.
"I pray to my Jesus, please come down from the sky,
throw it into fire lake, bring the battle to an end."
We confess and take our weakness' to Jesus and ask for power and strength to overcome, that we have no sin of our past still trying to defeat our faith. I really like this poem,
the way it spoke to me.
God Bless
Marcy

This is so biblical as the flesh warreth against the spirit. I believe everyone goes through this, but all help comes from God.
The battle shall end, some day. Great job!

Oh the inner battles we have. Thank God he wins them for us, if we give all the trials to him. You called out to him, and he will deliver you. We humans are so faceted. But he sees right through us. Thank you for sharing this Erie.
Sincerely,
Rwood
