Craving, addiction Please God, send it away from me Since I were little, it was normal This thing that kills people Nervousness, anxiety Eating myself out of house and home Lord I know you're there I can't do this alone Pull this desire out of soul When I say I trust you The craving goes away But why does it come back? Cleanse my body of it Lord I'm ready Help me in this polluted sea I sail Rough waters drown me My lungs have rusted Just like the nails Used to Hang you on the Cross Just like the nails Used to Seal the Coffins of old Each day I smoke I know It's just another nail in my own But for today, I'm pulling them out One at a time With prayer and fasting Each moment I know I am one step closer To breathing clean again Heal my body Lord From the scars of my own Self inflicted nails Thank you Lord for your conviction and keep me from the cravings as I stop today, to smoke prayerfully no more. |

Dear R; Well you certainly have every drop of my sympathy, because, [confession time] I smoke like a chimney and I love every one of them. I've tried to quit so many times I've lost count. Prayed and had accupunture and you name it. Once when I was prayed over, they told me it was my cross to bear. Please let me know how your doing, you have my prayers. Don't beat yourself up, it's a horrible addiction. I've asked Jesus a million times to take it from me! Love, Ellie 02 |

Dear R - Oh boy, do I know how you feel, I've been trying for the last 3 weeks, and I'm down to about 5 a day....just can't let go of those 5...I keep praying about it too, and I hope soon enough I won't want any more....but after 25 years...I don't know...You have written a beautiful prayer and I'll keep reading it over and over, any maybe we'll both be able to stop...Thanks for sharing this, Bonnie |

Just a little note here from me, as I was reading your poem, at first I thought you were talking about overeating, when you said eating yourself out of house and home, and that is my addition, by the grace of God I am overcoming daily, I have lost some poundage since joining WW recently. Paul said he had to die daily to sin, and I think that is the key to any addition, Just for today. I know many people who with God's help kicked the smoking habbit, my husband is one of them. It can be done, I truly hope you are sucessfull. In WW they say that in most things if you fail, it is because you failed to have a plan as what to do when temptation strikes. God bless you for being so honest. |

Don't this hit home, as I have the very same addiction to smoking. I've tried hypnosis a few times, to no avail, along with just plain trying to quit. I'm with Ellie though, I know I shouldn't, but in a way I do enjoy it. My kids bark at me all the time, and I know it's not good for them. God Bless you in this R! I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! You shall be in my prayers with this, and you can succeed ![]() |

Thanks so much for your support in this. I am very weak in this subject. I like them a whole lot too. I appreciate all your comments and encouragement. It may be a cross for me to bear for life. Your prayers are much needed. I love this forum! Sincerely Rwood |
