I say, to me, the years have been kind, I see more clearly now, I find Although it's not by physical sight, I wear bifocals that don't fit right. But it's amazing, what the years bring Time for experience, is my friend. And tho' in ways my memory's faded I've still many more as I have aged. And many friends I've come to know That enrich my life just so! Some things of which I was terrified, I can accept, and take in stride. And I have learned-this works for me: "Don't take yourself so seriously!" Laughter for the soul is good, It takes the edge off life's old crud. And helps me overcome my pains, And let's me make my losses, gains! I'm at a point in life where I, Don't want to go back, nor would I try If this is "Growing Old Gracefully" I tell you friends, it agrees with me! "Our Creativity points to a Higher Creator--we couldn't have just happened, and for what ability we may possess--to God be the glory." -dlw- |

Well David - This is wonderful, I think it "agrees" with me too....my bifocals don't fit to well either...and I'd be lost without the laughter...You put it all into words beautifully, and put a little spring in my step....Thanks, Bonnie |

Was just reading a poem I'd written to my late Mother on this very thing today! Though I'd like to hang around a little longer, I'm glad I don't have to relive many of my past years. The uncertainty, the worries of raising children, days of wavering faith, little knowledge (not that I've a great deal yet), career choices, etc. I'm really glad to be an old lady still able to read these great poems. Thanks! |

Hi David, I am in awe! Do you say, okay Lord, I'm ready to type now? Just beautiful! No sir, I don't think I would choose to go back, just trying to keep my eyes toward Jesus. Come quickly Lord. Amen. Marcy |

This is so great! I would never want to go backwards in life. I like where I'm at too. I'm in the middle though, so I still have some seasoning yet! God bless us and keep us growing older in his grace! Sincerely, Rwood |

Dearest David; Magnificent writing as usual! I like it right where I am too and I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. Besides, I'm 56 years old and I feel 26, for that blessing I thank the Lord. There is truth in the saying " you're only as old as you think". Thanks, dear friend in Christ and brother poet!
