She is beautiful I don't compare With skin like fresh peaches And golden spun hair Large brown eyes Deepset and sincere Her brow is strong Her feelings are clear Her nose is softly sloping It adds sweetness to her face When she smiles it crinkles With childlike grace Her lips are Betty Boop's Full and blushed red I find myself checking If it's lipstick instead Her ears are little Like tiny seashells Sometimes she wears trinkets Sometimes she wears pearls She likes butterflies Dolphins in the sea She laughs at most anything She is stronger than me Smart and stubborn She gives quite a glare She can hold me prisoner With her willfull stare She is tall and healthy Like a large cupie doll It won't be long Her clothes will be too small She always has the right words And is compassionate and kind When it comes to giving She's first in line She compairs our feet Our legs, our hands Trying to find something From which her anatomy descends Dancing and Playing Singing sweet songs Running like wildfire All the day long She is beautiful She takes my breath away I'm sorry you don't know her Since you left that day She is the best part Of you and I She is the watercolors Of my life She remembers you She has your eyes But you chose to go And find a new life So many suffer The loss and the pain But she has a father And she knows his name I like my mother And her mother before her Passed down the inheritance Of spirit of the Lord He gave me a gift And she brings me hope I'm good for something She tells me so One day we'll answer him I realize But how can I tell him I apologize? She is beautiful Even on the inside.... |

Beautiful! Sounds like the love to a child? But what's got me hanging is why apology? What's to be sorry for? One aspect is either speaking of her earthly father, or the heavenly one. Sorry if I misinterpreted this, but I'm left wondering. |

Oh how beautifully you describe God making something so wonderful from something ugly. You obviously have a deep love of our Lord, which carries through to your daughter, as you see all the beauty in her rather than your disappointment. We can be genuinely sorry for our sin while still praising our Lord for the outcome He's brought. |

That's exactly what I feel in this Sandgrain. Broken homes, sometimes by no fault of your own...still makes you feel you don't measure up to what God's plan is. Especially when your little one looks up to you and asks why..and you don't have the answer. The outcome...however in God's grace can still be beautiful. I'm sorry for anything that brings pain to someone I love. But I can't be sorry for loving them. Thanks for all of your comments! I hope this clears things up. Sincerely, Rwood |

Regina, A couple of things. Couldn't help but compare the poem to your picture. Wow, if you don't compare then I am speechless about your daughter. But to the depth of the poem...what a wonderful mother's love you express here. And how magnanimus your heart that your daughter would still inherit from you a respect for her father inspite of his choices. God has blessed your heart and your life and it shows. Loved this through and through. Another keeper. Still exploring... The past is history and the future is a mystery, but today is a gift and that is why it is the present! |

Upon reading this, I felt the same as another reader...why apologize? But after reading your explanation, I understood what you meant. Excellent write, I thought. Opeth |
