THE SITUATION

We live in a world where many each day
Are told by their doctor, "You'll soon pass away."
Your condition is Terminal, Nothing more I can do,
These words to my Father-proved painfully true--
And yet still may be said, to me and you.

AN ILLUSTRATION

The Doctor entered his patient's room
With a slow and steady gait,
Though the matter was urgent--
His thought to deliberate.
His sad dark eyes spoke volumes
To his anxious sickly friend,
Who soon sensed the inevitable
His time's coming to an end!

The Doctor spoke very softly
And yet he made his words very clear,
"The test have now confirmed this--
You haven't much longer, I fear.
I wish that I could help you
But now it is out of my hands,
So make the most of your time left
Now, while you still have a chance."

"The best advice I can give you
Is to get all your business squared away,
To make it much easier on your Loved ones
Once that you have passed away.
And now is the time to tie loose ends
Of Relationships left in ill ease,
Don't die with regrets,
Hard feeling begets
But Strive ye with all to make peace."

"And by all means, be at peace with the Lord
For sin separates the sinner from Him,
But the Lord died to Save,
For your sins He has paid
So the Heav'nly Glory you can enter in."
The Doctor then rose and turned to the door
All had been said, he was through,
The patient in numbness, glance the mirror toward--
Oh my God, his poor patient is YOU!

THE APPLICATION

This subject is not for just a sad few
For ALL here are "Terminal," yes, me and you!
We refer to this Life as "The Land of the Living,"
But is doing this, are we not a misnomer giving?
For the Land of the Living- is that Heavenly,Divine,
'Tis the Land of Dying-in this life we find.

So the Great Physician enters both mild and meek,
He's come on a Mission-with a message to speak.
It is about Us, and our earthly life here,
The truth is made known, how short are our years!
We get concerned about illness- run to doctors
                   we know,
But of so much greater importance- is the Sickness
                   of our soul!

So the Lord has come to save us, though death must
                   come our way,
He bids us to prepare, for our Eternal stay.
Yes, get our house in order, for to this life we'll
                   die,
But if we're living in Him, Heav'n won't pass us by!

Redeeming the Time-make the most of your days,
Praising the Lord and following His ways.
Striving as Peacemakers, both with God and men,
For such are His Children, such are His friends.
But if you should choose to ignor his wise counsel
You find your self doomed fore'er in a sick Hell!

Sin is Terminal-But God's Grace is the Cure,
So heed the True Physician-thus His every word hear.
So that when He comes again-and before Him all stand
To you He'll say "Well done, Redeemed and Cured
Enter in My Promised Land!

Dear David; This poem is definitly a masterpiece. I forsee this showing up all over the place. Many people are going to be profoundly touched after reading it, because the Grace of Jesus' calling to them, will be heard and headed, we pray. The sickness of the soul,{what a good idea], is the cause of all sickness. You have, once again, used your tremendous gift to uplift and teach us all the lessons that are timeless.
Thank you, dear friend,   Love, Ellie

Oh, David, how true it is, we're all terminal here in flesh but the Healer, Physican, has given us eternity, if we sincerely confess our soul's sickness to Him.  This, as all your works, radiates Jesus' love.  Thanks for all your kind replies on my attempts.  You're a real blessing to me and I'm sure all on this forum!
