We label jars, as to content < !signature-->And cans that we can not see through, Such use is constructive and helpful And serves as beneficial tools. But when we go labeling Humans In our stereotypical ways, We are doing ourselves a disfavor-- And opening the door to disgrace. I want not by men, to be labeled By their preconcieved notions of me, Blinded by superficial judgments How can they my qualities see? Nor would they desire such treatment To be put in a nitch, shelved away, But the benefit of true exposure To be who they are-not what we say! Let's label jars--not people! Let's give All opportunity, To show themselves for who They are And then more equity, we'll see! "Our Creativity points to a Higher Creator--we couldn't have just happened, and for what ability we may possess--to God be the glory." -dlw- [This message has been edited by deleeme (edited 05-09-2000).] |

Great topic, nice poem, too. Sadly, labeling also keeps the labeler from really getting to know the others. |

David I love it! So often we judge the book by it's cover instead of its contents. Some of those labels can very often hurt not only the person who gets them, but those that give them too. Thank you for this poem David, and the message you bring across! PS...when are we going to get to see that new picture you have for us? <*\\\>< When you can't make up your mind Which way is right for you, Stop and softly ask yourself, What Would Jesus Do? |

there is a great deal of wisdom here, David. Beautifully written too. The first thing that came to mind, was all the times we would not hear God,s message for us because we have labeled the messenger and closed our ears to His voice. Thanks for your message to us all. 02 |

Thank you for saying it so well. In real life, you see, I dwell outside the norm, so I understand the harm of prejudicial,pre- conception. You gave me hope and left me feeling somehow validated. Thanx. |

So true isn't it - deep down we are all guilty of labelling others, and putting them inside little stereotyped boxes. Great message David, and you wrote it so well! Thanks for bringing to our attention something we may all already know, but need a reminder of! |

I enjoy reading your work, and oh so true, we judge people by their hair, color, weight and so on, missing out on the true man or women inside, and missing out on what could be a best friend, I am so glad Jesus see's me from the inside out. Thanks Sandy OWPEMT |
