The Walk of Faith

In this troubled mind
My pain is bittersweet
Because I was born a sinner
But raised to love pleasure
Contradiction has made me a wanderer
For my eyes are blinded by shame

My tattooed body will guide me
It is my map to peace
For my self-expression is a question
A living work of art
That paints a portrait of my life and times

Pain and passion for life
Has my soul weeping
For this journey is never ending
What is a man to do?
But to keep moving forward

Body beaten and weathered
Tired and close to the end of hope
As black shelter roams across the lands
Beckoning the thunder and lightening
To rejoice in the chaos
Howling and cackling in contempt
An attempt to turn me back

But I have nothing to lose
And only eternity to gain
So, onward I march
Steadily climbing that mountain
As the cool wind wipes away my tears
Giving me a piece of reality
That I hold onto tightly
Entering the storm
Not knowing what the outcome will be

Marcel

This has the sound of a psalm.  Faith against great obstacles.  Well done.  Joyce

You are a man of strong convictions and great faith! Never lose sight of HIS grace and majesty and your hope will shine in HIM forever!

Powerfully done Marcel, a psalm of strength and a declaration of faith against all odds...very well done! I was very moved by the last stanza and could feel the wind of the Spirit in those words! God Bless you!

may I add this to my own collection?

Beautiful piece

"To rejoice in the chaos"

There is so much truth in these words, the things we do to keep sin alive!  I often wonder what our excuses will be, standing there before God, trying to explainn our actions, trying to have our cake, and eat it too!

"The truth in your words, makes you a better writer"
