If I Would be a Mountain

If I would be a mountain
     majestic and prized
Would I be more glorious
    than that hill of sacrifice?

In shame yet in duty
to support the Son of God
As up my slopes, scourged and bloody,
He bore the weight of the cross.

I was ugly and dry, laden with rocks
barren of  fruit had been my grievous lot
Relinquishing His Spirit, He gave up the ghost
and now fruit runs rampant on each and ev’ry slope.

I needn’t be a mountain
with purple grandeur as kingly robes
yes, only a hillside
      above the olive groves.

Where birds sing and dogwood cling
to grip the earth for growth
In memory of His resurrection
when I bore death and life of the Rose.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

A beautiful piece, Virginia.
I loved it

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Virginia, this is so very emotionally touching, sweet friend, God Bless You, sweet friend, I suppose none of us can ever really compare to the mountains but is the fertile ground that matters most where all the fruits of life grow! (sigh) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

VAS,

Though by no means are you a beautiful purple mountain, you are a very admonished  hillside named Calvary that is marked through all time and with all generations past, present, and future as being the place of our Lord's crucifixion...  Beautiful? Not at all, but full of purpose. A very good personification of the hillside of Calvary and a wonderful inspiration for a poem.  GOD bless you and thank you for sharing the hillside's perspective.  -Bob

Good points. We all have our task- great or small.

Thanks,
