Today is Easter
What will we see?
Jelly beans and colored eggs
or the rugged cross of Calvary
Pretty dresses trimmed with lace
or our Savior's ravaged face
The Easter baskets across our land
or the Lamb of God's nail scarred hand
A well planned meal set for noon
or Hallelujah~ an empty tomb!
Pray that God will help us see
What He intended Christ to be
The perfect Lamb that cancels sin
and dwells with us when we ask Him in.

Happy Easter.

Cheryl:  A fine poem!  Hopefully more people than ever will turn to the Lord this Easter.  We certainly need Him more than ever!

Oh yes Powerful message cheryl, I so agree with you. I used to hate to go to christening parties because they always ended up with being drinking parties for adults. This message is so true. We put christian coloring books and things of that type in along with the other candies in our grandchilds basket. Jesus must be remembered. After all it is HIS day as is Christmas, another peeve of mine putting x in front of mas, I hate it. lovely poem here. floria

Cheryl, thank you for writing a wonderful reminder of the real reasons for Easter, to celebrate a risen Christ, who paid for us on the cross giving us freely God's gift of eternal life.

Easter should be time a of abundant joy, but our eyes should be on Christ, not on little bunnies with eggs. It seems very sad that merchandisers of greed use Easter, like Christmas to make money by promoting distractions of man's need to escape sin. They fill their pockets by promoting escape into a fantasyland of lies and illusions instead of teaching Salvation with eternal life through Christ. Thank you for a job well done.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Cheryl, this is so sad but true, it saddens me to see Easter becoming commericalized and I just wish those companies can begin to create coloring books and other items dedicated to remember Jesus to compliment the sweets to celebrate our Loving lord! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much, this is sooooo powerfully touching! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Cheryl, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

a most poignant reminder and perhaps gentle warning? Especially Christians should see
beyond the commercialism and celebrate the
"Real Deal", eh?
well expressed,

Thank you all for your wonderfully warm responses. I used to get caught up in the Easter "parade" but I have gone out and bought and "Easter" dress in many years. Everyday should be a celebration of victory through Christ our Lord. I appreciate the encouragement of fellow believers. Happy Easter. Cheryl
