Two creatures met to cross a road. One a duck. The other a toad. Who would win and who'd be last; The waddling duck? Or the toad hopping fast? Nearing the middle, a car drew near: The duck and toad began to fear. "Oh, Lord, save us!" both they wished. The duck flew off. The toad got squished.

Lighthouse:
Glad to be back after so long. Good poem, had to laugh at the way you blended light-touched commedy with important moral lessons. Good job.

What a delightful poem!!! Point well taken. Reminds me of a story my friend told me. A farmer was sitting on his porch looking out across his fields. He prayed, "God, if you will just plant the seed, till the field, grow the crop, this year, I will do it next year." Faith is not only believing; but acting on that faith. I think your poem illustrates that concept beautifully.

Really charming bob, I am wondering why the toad had to die. Unless it was perhaps just for the sake of rhyme. I liked this, it is charming. floria

Hi Bob! This one was delightful.
As I walk along, down life's rocky road Lord give me wings to fly above my load And when a crushing jar comes after me Just lift me up, Lord, let me fly with thee.
Wheeeee!
Love it!
