Our constant gaurdian -Matthew Hohne As I stand alone, looking up toward the midnight sky I find myself constantly asking why, and why Why did I do those things to a friend so true? Why did I do those things to a friend like you? Then I walk across the horizon shelf Searching hard to find myself I see a tree, in the mist of tears A tree that begs me to come near Its branches reach out towards heaven It says it's trying to reach the dead seven They were chopped down, by those unknown And now it feels so terribly alone It knows not what it did wrong It knows not why its friends are gone It’s left standing there mourning with the wind As I leave to find my missing friend It seems I’m stuck in this bitter creul place Searching hard to find you, my grace I keep looking up toward the sky But I don’t see you, and I don’t know why Where did you go, where are you hiding Is that place mine for the finding Are you avoiding me Are you avoiding the tree Find, leave me in this wreck Leave me alone throughout my trek At one time I thought you cared At one time I thought you would be there The tree will be there for me The tree will hear my plea It’s a long walk to there But I truly don’t care Hey tree the lord has left me But wait what’s this I see It now has little clones No longer is it alone The lord has truly blessed thee It now has fellow trees The tears are all gone And it is left teaching its spawn That’s when it dawned on me The lord was always there, though I couldn’t see He was there throughout it all He lifted me up so I wouldn’t fall We may not know it, but he’s blessing us all We may not know it, but he always answers our calls He’s with you, me, and everyone worldwide He’s always by our side. I resently went on two different walkes, searching for something unknown to me. In the first walk, I walked for an hour and 15 minutes. Then I turned toward the sky, and saw the sun shining through the clouds. It reminded me of the song that goes, "wooowoo... Heaven let your lights shine down" It comforted me, and I thanked the lord for being there with me. On the second one I was walking along a road that ran between two cornfields. Suddenly I came upon a tree. It was the only tree in sight. I felt sorry for that tree(yes it's the tree in the poem though it still doesn't have any trees around it), but then I realized something. Even though it was all alone. It still grew tall and proud, because it had the lord as it's friend; The only compainian we truely need. I hope you all like this poem. It sure took me awhile to write it ![]() [This message has been edited by Encarta (02-17-2002 07:43 PM).] |

Matthew, I too find long walks to be very therapeutic. I like your analogy of the tree. When I first began reading your poem, I was thinking that the tree might be the cross on which Jesus died.... I do like the part though about the reproduction of little trees. Kind of neat how GOD used a tree to speak to your heart. Like that tree, perhaps you've got some little sprouts that are looking up to you right now. Amen. Like I said, those long walks are very therapeutic ... They can help us find ourselves at times. Thanks for sharing with us your gift and let me, perhaps, be the first to give you a very warm Welcome. GOD bless you. -Bob |

Beautiful allegory...the lonely tree and the lonely you. But it is ever true...that God is always with us, always near. ***Ivy Rose |

Encarta, I think you've done an admirable job expressing the link between the lonely tree and the lonliness of man without God. Welcome and I enjoyed your poem. Cheryl |
