A Bridge to Cross

I’d often wondered how to bridge
the gap between God and me
Until the day I realized
it had been done at Calvary

A rugged cross was suspended there
Such a special bridge to cross
To be tread upon with tender care
So valuable the cost

The gap, so large, was my own sin
So vast it kept us apart
But Jesus became that special bridge
when I asked Him into my heart

The bridge was made with spikes and nails
and wood so crude and rough
It made my journey possible
How could I thank Him enough?

Step out in child-like faith
and cross that bridge to God
Knowing the Savior’s precious feet
before yours have gently trod
