THE TRUTH

The truth of life and living like a clown makes happy sounds
clapping hands and dancing in the minds of you and me
and always it smiles, yes; it smiles from lips to eyes
at futile useless tools given as our birthright due.

What for to know the secret; there’s nothing I can do
to change, make known, prove to you the truth I found one time
for it alters shape in outline and its colours change in hue
till in a whirlpool all I know drowns with the still unknown.

A little spark of wisdom gleaned from the living pool
dries in sun of man’s ill will till frizzled hard as rock
and the glory of true love found in a lover’s arms
dies a slow and painful death as he turns to walk away.

What’s left except demise of a soul’s deep burning wish
that brought it back to life from the silence of the grave
yet a soul once awoken should hold no mortal fear
for truth from the mind of death is passed into our own.

“I am with you”, said the Lord yet here alone I feel
sadness of “reality” that always wins the race
for dreams of love breathe shallow when depleted energy
keeps its human face beyond this hand of mine.

Yet I’m here in this world to do the best I can
to dream, to hope, to always hope, someone will love me too
the way I am when I became the vessel of pure love
unable now to flourish in hearts that turned away.

Oh, wake up; wake up, I tell myself - how dreams can seem so real
remains a most important truth I seek but never find!!

I think you are touching on the truth of the situation. To have love, we must first love.  And even unrequited love is not lost,
it paves the way for that true love that will surly come.  Joyce

Thank you Joyce.  I love therefor I have love!  I guess sometimes it's just not meant that we have the physical manifestation thereof but being human it is what we naturally desire.

This is so nice honeybunch. Love is such a powerful thing. It wins wars and conquers. This was so nicely expressed. Floria

Thank you Floria!  Yes, I truly do believe in love.  It's a mover, a shaker, and sometimes a heart-breaker but whichever way you look at it, it has a good life!
