Decembers List Decembers to-do list of musts Is headed, “To celebrate Jesus” Before I pop the cookie dough in For sweetness in life, I’ll thank Him Untangling lights, string after string I’ll look to the light of Jesus, our King As I display the Nativity scene I want to remember the star that was seen If, by chance, there’s a blanket of snow Because of Him, I’m cleansed, I’ll know Watching flames dance in the fireplace I’ll think of the warmth of His saving grace When we gather with our guests The reason for the season will top interests At night as I climb into bed I’ll remember the manger He had instead As I awake on Christmas morn I’ll celebrate WHY he was born |

Hm... I liked the reflective tone of this poem. The poem, itself, is structured like a list! OK, maybe that's supposed to be obvious, but this particular personal era I'm in seems to have me obsessed with technical details. Anyhow, as far as help is concerned: I think that perhaps a more complex rhyming scheme would do... maybe abab, for example... I'm kinda tired right now, so my brain isn't working at its best, lol. "If history is to change, let it change. If the world is to be destroyed, so be it. If my fate is to die, I must simply laugh" |
