God, Paradise was perfect But the temptation to have all My questions answered Was too much I wanted to have as much Knowledge as you did So I bite into the forbidden fruit The taste was delicious And you were wrong I did not die.. So I offered it to Adam He didn't have to bite into it To see how much I enjoyed it He wanted to taste it for himself And that is exactly what he did Then suddenly we both knew That naked bodies should be covered We were ashamed, Then suddenly the air became cold And we knew things Would never be the same We gathered fig leaves And a twig, invented the needle To sew the leaves together With a vine Fashioning our first set of clothes But that was not enough to cover The shame and the guilt we felt then We knew we must hide So we hid beneath the bushes Hoping you would not see us Yet knowing you would We knew then that Satan had lied Knowledge really wasn't what We thought it would be In gaining it we had lost more Than it's worth Our special time to speak to you in the garden Now filled our hearts with fear And yes we hid from you You came to look for us And called to us asking where we were Knowing very well where we were Yet wanting us to tell you Yes Lord.. We are naked .. And we know it... Will you love us anyway? |

Songbird, I love your roll playing... Your poem really gives the story of Eve in the Garden of Eden character. Also, thank you so very much for your kind responses to my poetry. I'm looking forward to further scenes in The Garden. -Bob |

Songbird; I really like what you have done with this account from Genesis. Aren't we indeed thankful God does love as and accept us as we are and then makes a new creation of us. How blessed we are to know Him. Thank you for the wonderful read. Wanda |

This is a great poem. It reminds us how dramatic were our beginnings, how deceitful and devastating sin is, how just and loving God is who would let (them / us) feel the pain of sin, yet promise a redeemer right there in the first pages of Genesis. Great job. Stephen. ![]() |

Dear Songbird I loved this. I tuned in to publish a poem on the very same subject before I saw this one. I am going to post it anyway, but I am afraid it will suffer beside yours. Love, Joyce |
