Chaos and the Cross

Amidst the wreckage and debris,
They found the cross of Calvary.
Of steel and twenty feet in height.
A sign from God that shows His might.
A sign that He was there that day,
To walk with us and show the way,
Through smoke and flame, through dust and din.
A symbol we can use to win
The battle that now lies ahead.
Lift up your spirits, and your head
And look to where that cross now stands,
Erected by committed hands,
Of selfless heroes who still try
To clear the wreckage from nearby.
A cross to rest their eyes upon.
To pause a moment, then go on.
It's like a message straight from God,
Who comforts us with staff and rod!

BettyLou~
Yes ... I saw that and was touched by the symbolism~
You took a poignant moment and turned it into a beautiful poetic offering.
Thank you.

Joyce:  This is true!  I only saw one article and picture about it, but I think it should have been given more attention. The workers at the towers, came upon a huge cross, made out of steel, twenty feet high. It was the junction of two bracing steel beams and had not melted.  They took it and mounted it on an a building nearby where everyone could see it. As far as I know it's still there. It is awe inspiring!

Marge:  Thank you and I thought the picture of this cross was so impressive and significant! I hope they eventually use it in a memorial of some kind, to all who have labored so hard and all who have died.
