Prayers Do Not Wear Out!

One thing I know, beyond a doubt
And it's that prayers do not wear out!
For I have said them o'er and o'er,
Ten thousand times or maybe more
And they are just the same as they
Were when I said them yesterday.
They're always there and just behind
Whatever occupies your mind.

Now you can wash them with your tears
And never have the slightest fears
That they will fade or get too small.
They never shrink or change at all
And once you start to speak each word,
You know that they are surely heard.
God gave us comforts such as these,
To last down through the centuries!

The scripture that this brings to mind..is to pray without ceasing.. a thing that we can do all through the day..and since he told us to do it..i don't think he ever tires of our prayers.

Songbird:  I know you are right and lately I find myself doing just that.......praying even when I'm not totally aware of what I'm saying.  Does that make any sense to you??

This one should be on a plaque! I'd have it hanging in my home. I love it Betty!

Splendid work!

Beautiful!  Prayers I said as a child, grew more and more meaningful to me over the years and I'm sure they're heard in the same way.  I love the perspective you took....of them never wearing out, too.

Rae:  It was listening to a childhood prayer.......Now I lay me down to sleep, etc.......that gave me the idea for this poem and the more I thought about it, the more I realized the truth of it!  Thanks.

Your poem is wonderfully uplifting....  the flow, the words, the subject matter just beautiful.  I especially enjoyed the analogy of washing our prayers.... very cute.  -Bob

Very well written   I enjoyed this very much, explaining on how no matter how much we pray, God always hears us. As it is said- the more prayer, the more care.

WhtDove:  I will check around and see what I can come up with in the way of a plaque and I will see that you get one.  Thanks for asking.
