My Promise--sermon message poem

My Promise

If you confess Me
     in your heart,
Though you have sinned, fallen short
     of My grace,
You WILL be saved.

On the iter,
     the road to Rome,
Lurk serpents,
Lurk sirens,
Lurk desires of flesh,
~~~

Rocks and crevices
     lie in wait,
Hunger, thirst
     beg for slake
~~~

Agony cries
     sorrow plies
To turn thoughts to fear
~~~

Yet I come
     with soothing rain,
     My promise to be near.
~~~

Though the road is dark,
     look for My spark
And I will light the way
~~~

Step forward into your eternity
     and I shall bless your day
~~~

Even if the vipers hiss,
     if the rattlers rattle,
Keep your eyes
     upon My light
     I will do the battle.
~~~

Not looking to the left nor to the right but upward knowing our relationship with and in God will bring us through, speaks to me of a great and marvelous faith. Thank you for sharing. -Bob
