A Painted Dawn The Artist took a brush and He Painted, oh so delicately, Tree branches, black, against a sky Where wisps of rosy cloud drift by And then He hung a morning star To twinkle at us from afar. The music to complete the scene, Came from a mourning dove, unseen, Who sent it's soft and plaintive call Across the fields, to gently fall Like lyric petals through the air, As dawn emerges, cool and fair.
