To keep our faith alive
To keep a fire aflame
To keep a candle
Burning in a window
In spite of wind and rain

Each day has need of shelter
Each day has need of fuel
Each day requires
A renewing of our spirit
By the one who gives us breath
So unto the one
Who is able to keep
The lamp fire burning
With the oil of his Holy word
I ask dear Father
Help me keep my soul
Kindled for thee

Oh .... how comforting are these thoughts~

'I ask dear Father
Help me keep my soul
Kindled for thee'

His Spirit is the only way for our lives to burn with holiness.  Without him our lives flicker and end up smouldering with smoke that obscures him from ourselves and others.  But he is faithful.  And I thank him for his promise that "a smouldering flax he will not quench".

Stephen.
