Little David's Prayer

Little David is a boy
who has great big dreams...
and when he prays at night,
the prayers he wants he screams,
"God bless my neighbors,
our dog, and my Mom and Dad,
and thanks for the watermelon,
it's the best ever had....
AND GIVE ME A BICYCLE!!!!"
(The One That's Color Red)
...and then he closes his eyes
and falls fast asleep in bed.

Now, Mom and Dad they asked,
"Why is it ye must yell...
Know ye not that God has ears
and His ear drums thine will swell?"

But ever since David's reply,
Mom and Dad they ask no more...
For little David answered,
"My prayers are not to God,
but to Grandma who's next door!"

This is wonderful. I appreciate the humor.
I just ran across a little thank you to God from a grandaughter who was in kindergarten at the time. She wrote.

"Thank you for the flowers and birds and thank you for meat." No vegetarian she. Joyce

This is charming! Reminds me of our grandson, who was killed just before his 10th birthday. When his mother asked him shortly before the accident, what he prayed for every night, he said "To go to grandma's house!"
