Clean and Ready Virginia Salter He stepped into the water and was purified. rising up, rejoicing dancing into his future... Clean, forgiven he opened wide his doors raised up his windows breathed in life’s freshness Emptied of all he was before ready to be filled yet too much a child too new a man In through the doors; the windows, entered the world to feed, to fill, to satisfy the empty vessel of him Forgetting the book at his side blindly he invited in the food the foul and the good the foul, fouled up the good © June 25, 2000 |

The last stanza reminds me of myself. I especially love the last line "the foul, fouled up the good". Time and time again the world influences me, and it's this constant cycle of cleaning and getting ready, to prepare my battle for the Lord, and once again i fall. But God is so persistint, He will never stop lifting and of us up. I really liked this poem, it's message was simple, and something people can relate to their own lives. xscoutx |

This is a very interesting poem. I didn't expect the last verse. But it is wonderful that all he needs to do is ask forgivness and start over. Joyce |

This is impressive! The surprise ending (at least to me) really gives one food for thought! Betty Lou Hebert |

perfect poem for the thoughts you wanted to convey. But I would still like to see something like this at the end... "yet the good overcame the foul". But maybe that thought (of grace finally winning out) is for another poem. Just a thought. I think your poem is great the way it is. Stephen. |
