Your birthday has come around again.
Some days were made for joy.
I cannot be unhappy
On the birthday of my boy.

There may days throughout the year
I can let the sadness through.
But the happiest without a doubt,
Is the day that brought me you.

I guess we'll plan a quiet day,
Only we and our memories,
And as on other birthdays,
You can do quite as you please.

There always was a party,
That day could not go by
Without cards and gifts from everyone
Who loved you, just as I.

I have found a picture of you
Holding up a birthday cake.
You are wearing someone else's hat.
I wonder why, for goodness sake!

There was the day when you were ten,
Your grandpa was still with us.
He caught that monstrous salmon
And we all made such a fuss.

Would you think it very silly, if
I baked a cake for you?
I could take it to the shelter,
The way you used to do.

I could go to the ciy park to find
The homeless sitting there.
I am sure that they remember
How you brought your cake to share.

I can see you now in heaven,
With our loved ones all around.
Are there raggeds and bedraggleds
In heaven that you've found?

Do they celebrate in heaven?
Do they have parties there?
Do the angels gather round you
To show how much they care?

For you could not be happy
And wouldn't have much fun,
If you coudn't spread the joy around
And share with everyone.

Joyce

Joyce, powerfully touching!  Wonderfully woven.  May I send it to our Hope for Healing group leader?

This one tugs at the heart.  I have a three year old son who not long ago had a birthday.  Precious memories aren't they?

Stephen.

this is such a wonderful way to express this for such an occasion, which i am glad to see you are using to happily reminisce.

This is such a powerful poem which almost brough me to tears reading it. This truly is a beautiful way of showing your love for your son and I am sure he knows just how much you care. Thank you for the read.

This is such a tender& loving piece that speaks highly of your beloved late son, and wonderfully of a Mother's love, which perhaps  also helped shape him into such a loving, caring person.
You have much to celebrate- even though he is not present to do so with you.

This was a tough read.  It's always sad when they are taken from us so young.  Yet, I believe that everything happens for a reason.  I hope someday you know what that reason is.  Touching, emotional write.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Dear Joyce; I felt so sad reading this. I too have lost a child, my Michelle. Our children are together in heaven, enjoying their Mom's poetry,I'm sure! God did a wonderful thing for me. He had my granddaughter, Molly,be born on Michelle's birthday! love to you, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

my brother died 7 years before I was born, at 6 months old, I always talk to him, because he's the only one in my family that listens!

Don't worry, God's a great Father.
