Another Father's Day is here, Just one
Of the too many since you have been gone.
You taught us well, when were growing up,
All that we'd need to know, to carry on.
Faithfulness to God and truth and country,
And dedication to your family;
A simple pattern for us to follow,
To make our future lives all they could be.

I'm wondering today, "Would you be proud,
Of how your seven boys and girls turned out?"
If some of us have failed, it's not your fault.
You showed us what a good life is about.
I have used you as a perfect yardstick
To measure the true worth of other men.
Most have failed the test quite miserably.
So few have such fidelity and ken.

The strong love we had between us, Daddy,
Was always so completely understood.
I'm sorry that I didn't tell you then,
The things I'd say now, if I only could.
Not once in those years we had together,
Did you cause me unhappiness or pain.
I'd hold you and say how much I love you,
If God would let me see you once again.

Oh Joyce, this one grabbed my heart and wouldn't let go.  It is all too sad when we don't get the chance to say a proper good-bye to those we love when they leave this life.  I bet he'd be proud of you.  This was a wonderful touching tribute.  *hugs*
