As the sun slowly set last evening,
And night was drawing near,
I looked down at the trembling bud,
And watched the blossom appear.
The flowers of the dayshine,
Unseen in dark of night,
Except for one little flower,
That showed its own soft light.
Most of nature was sleeping,
Gone was the sweet birdsong,
But hidden in the darkness,
This flower had come along.
Quaking in the stillness,
Just rising, as the sun set,
Standing proudly on this night,
Its challenge now was met.
Stars sent glistening shadows,
The moon cast a strawberry glow,
I swear the angels applauded,
As they saw this evening show.
This ugly looking, weedlike plant,
At night, a delicate flower,
Showing the beauty You've given us,
Even at the darkest hour.

Ooh, this is so wonderfully beautiful!!!  I became acquainted with this flower only a short number of years ago.  I think it is so amazing and the way you woven it into this poem of faith is masterful.  Surely the Master has touched your heart and mind to render such a lovely piece.  May I take a copy of it and share it with friends? Please e-mail me your answer if you will, BSC.  Also, please put the title in the subject area of the e-mail or put Passions in Poetry, so I'll know it's safe to open.

Bonnie; This is so glorious and the analogy wonderfully inspiring! Love, Ellie

I love this poem, although I am not aquainted with this flower. You weave a very lovely poem about.

Reminds me of one of my strongest beliefs, there IS beauty in everything God has made.  Most people miss things just like you have described here in this poem.  It is the people like you and I hope myself too, that are awake enough to look beyond the first appearances to see a gift in everything God has created!!  Beautiful hon

You have reminded me that everything is beautiful in it's own way with this wonderfully written poem. Thanks.

BSC,

There seems to be a kind of supernatural existance element displayed in the nature of the weed like "dayshine" flower that I so enjoyed reading in your poem.  I realize that God seperated the light from the darkness, night from day and yet this little flower defies nature and presents a kind of day (light) like quality that to me expresses the infinite wisdom of God.  He places little reminders in our path to remind us that even in the darkness, God is always with us.  Lovely imagery once again,  Bob <><

I love this poem, it is totally true, reminds me of the christian band five iron frenzy's song dandelions.

I loved the imagery of beauty in the night season.  "God will give beauty for ashes".
Lovely piece you've written.
