I sought God at the local church
But it was just a building you see
and though I looked and prayed
God was not there for me

I walked around the city
seeking the One to whom I prayed
needing answers, needing hope
for a life tattered and frayed

At dawn I found myself
downtown on an unknown street
and it was there I found
an answer - oh so sweet!

The sound of happy laughter
drifted in the morning air
I heard the sound of children
Singing a joyful prayer

So effortlessly I joined them
sharing their song of heaven’s care
they danced and laughed at my tears
as finally, my heart found God there.

When life was dark and I despaired
I was lifted up on Angel's wings,
shown that God is everywhere;
now in His love, my heart sings

Very well said, PdV.
God is everywhere. When we are down, He is always there to lift us back up if we allow Him.

PdV I loved it! Sometimes we wander those lonely "streets." Thank God He's always there. It's great to feel it though! Thank you!

This is a grat poem. You heartfully show that you can find God anywhere not just in church. God's everywhere, it is amazing where you can find yourself giving your life over to Him. It doesnt have to be in a church, and I think this is something many people need to read, to realize that as well! Great job! Thank you for sharing!

I was in tears by the time i reach the last line as i'm so lost at the moment regarding my faith. I do believe in him yet i feel so lost most of the time with everything that is going on in life... ( I'm brought up going to the cath. church, budist temple and gudwara-its the prayer home of Sikhs)That's what happens when ure mix-parentage.. As i read ure poem i do hope i would find the peace that you had found.. For i fear i'm losing faith too soon too fast...

*sighs* i wonder why do people go through doubts
