Early one morning, I awake with a start,
lying still 'til I calm down my fast beating heart.
A big fly or mosquito has buzzed o'er my head.
Thoughts clearing, I know 'twas an airplne instead.

The crop duster is doing his job from the air.
He's the farmer's good friend who is helping to care
for the crops that are growing 'ere some insect  pest
eats half of what's there and the weeds take the rest.

My rest's been disturbed,, but I don't mind at all.
I'll be buying vegetables later this fall.
Delicious and perfect because he was there,
performing his job from that seat in the air.

It's dangerous work, his insurance is high;
But he does it so well, and who else can fly
over houses and farms on a clear sunny day,
so easy and free, as he clowns for his pay?

So I wave to the pilot as he buzzes by.
Don't know if he sees me from up in the sky.
I watch him maneuver and whisper a prayer.
May the Lord keep him safe as he's flying up there.

And just like that pilot, our Lord is on high:
Making sure that our new spirit life does not die.
Our sins are the weeds that he sprays from above,
while he's seeding our souls with salvation and love.

This one is a unique approach and perspective --but you've pulled it off very well. You have a very interesting way fo expressing yourself, and I especially like the application you made of allof this at the end.   Thank you,   David

Joice,

I do like the conclusion of your poem, but I
liked the humor expressed throughout as well.

Especially, at the beginning when you awake
from a kind of nightmare to expectations of
giant flys or atack by insects of some sort
and then you come to yourself and realize
that the guy in the sky is taking care of all
those nasty pests for you and planting good
seed.  I just like the all around feel of
this poem.   Bob <><
