I take for my text I Corinthians 15:31, wherein Paul makes the intriguing statement, "I die daily."

"I die daily"
Oh how repugnant the thought,
We shudder at just dying once
And in being brought to naught!

"I die daily"
Oddly the Apostle proclaims,
For he said "I'm crucified
With Christ, whom I do claim."

"I die daily"
What does that truly mean?
But that I should deny myself
That in me, Christ may be seen.

"I die daily"
Unto my selfish ways,
To others, to be a blessing-
Thus unto my Maker's Praise.

"I die daily"
Yet in Him I live,
And now my life has purpose
As it to Christ I give.

"I die daily"
From sin, I choose to refrain,
That as a cleansed and sanctified one
In Him I can remain.

"I die daily"
Oh what a precious way,
To be dead to life's vain things
And "hid in Christ" each day.

"I die daily"
That when my life is o'er,
I'll be with Him forever
Alive on Heaven's Shore!

No Better Place do I know
Than where Hearts knit as
one,
For in that grand
experience,
The Better ALL become.

God Bless us All!!!

David; Truly a profound message of the only way He can fill us with his Love and Grace....nothing can be filled unless first it is emptied...so I pray that this earthen vessel be emptied and so to be filled with all He has to give....Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

We're making decisions constantly, consciously or unconsciously. To die to our old ways takes keen awareness of our shortcomings as well as Jesus' true ways.
A super writing on a subject I surely need to improve!  Thank you.

I will easily honor this with an "amen!"

I will much less easily honor this with a daily life that daily dies.

(how easier said than done!, but worth it beyond words)

Stephen.

David,

It is amazing how one very profound statement from a great man of God can instill so much enlightenment and thought.  "I die daily" are words of much wisdom surely worth the time and meditation that you have given them in your poem.   Thank you for sharing your remarkable talent of clarification in God's Word.   Bob <><
