When You First Loved Me Virginia Salter When You first loved me, my spirit came into being filled with promise, filled with love. Then you loved me into life though I was unaware of you beyond the edges of my heart. When I first loved You, I was filled with hope and longing to see Your face, to feel Your touch, to know You beyond my heart and soul. When I first became aware of an inkling of the depth of Your love for me, I was high and lifted up, filled with Your promise, filled with rejoicing, filled with strength for the future. Then the future came with a knocking, rapping, beating it came. Spinning, twisting, digging until I was as full of holes as wormwood. With perforated faith, buckshot heart, splintered feet, I walk precariously the path I try to follow. I fall, spent, seeking healing, yet too frail to do more than wait upon Your will, Your strength, Your love to indwell me again, to allow You into the empty places. May I be as a sponge and You, Lord, my Oasis of living water. © March 12, 2000 Psalm 42 |

Your humbleness and longing, portrayed in sharp imagery, make this an outstanding piece. Rae |

VAS, So very emotionally descriptive where your words that I felt them flow as if they were being said directly to God from my heart.... Even when life fills us full of holes we are still useful as a sponge. I really like this thought. Bob <>< |
