I spent the morning, Lord, with You,
with other Lutherans tried and true.
We prayed and had our sins forgiven,
turned our thoughts to You and heaven.

I had invited kin to dine,
those very special folks of mine.
The meal went off without a hitch,
the meat so tender, pie too rich.

The kids caught every last stray cat.
Their feed had left my purse so flat.
We'll find them each a lovely home.
Please watch them Lord, don't let them roam.

As each dear guest leaves for his home,
my head is working on a poem.
I hurry to the forum where
no one is busy working there.

Have they too had a busy day
and no one has the time to play?
So I just toddle off to bed
and read my poem to You instead.

Well done!  The meter in this piece was magnificent, it made it flow well.  Also just the meaning behind it, you put this together very nicely and I applaud your skills.
Truly, a marvelous poem.
