Etched Upon My Years

Oh Lord, should I now cast away
the blessings you have sent my way
or mercies you have given me
through holy love
immense
and free?
Or what about the noble plans
you’ve etched upon my years with care?
Should I forget them in my vices
living blindly
unaware?
I cannot treat as common
those sweet benefits
that you extend.
I dare not open wounds afresh
which you’ve begun in grace
to mend.
If anything I rend at all
If dehiscence must appear
may it rather be my heart
flayed open wide
for you to hear.
If this might seem to you
a selfish prayer,
oh Lord please be aware
that I’m really only seeking
what your true heart cries to give.
Oh Father, may your will be done.
You’re willing
that I truly live.

Beautiful poem and you have written well of the perfect prayer " Thy Will be done, not mine"...He will fill you now with all the Love and Grace you need....Ellie
