Forgive my casting pearls sometimes to swine, indiscriminately tossing what’s divine to those with no capacity or mind to recognize what seems no more than swill, or empty husks to porcine eyes, though no poor sign I show. I’m sure that every soul won’t know and some may turn to trample me. But are there any stirring in the mires my sayings might set free? I guess it’s just my dream that some will recognize their worth and come. For hired to worldly pig pens everywhere are sons and prodigals yet unaware. For these, good pearls must fall with prayer. 2/2001 SDJ [This message has been edited by Stephanos (edited 02-21-2001).] |

Alot of truth in this..there is a time to keep silent and a time to speak. Likewise having wisdom to know when what you say is not falling on deaf ears or will be trambled. That is one reason I like Spiritual Forums hear we have a voice that a group of comrades are willing to listen and give comments without trambling our "Pearls". Keep writing and I'll keep reading. |

It's His job to convict and accept, it's our job to deliver the message. Wonderful message in your poem. Provocative. |

I so agree, as i have grown close to my Lord, I have learned that I am His pearl of great price and I need to not but my self in situation or with people that are are unsafe or not right for me. Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

When we talk about God to someone, sometimes you think they're not listening, but their soul is. It may take years for your words to be digested. But I can assure you it will happen. Well expressed! |

I guess I was just trying to express that being witnesses with our words presents to us a "double-edged sword". On one side, we could end up wasting words on those who are no where near being ready to hear. On the other side, we could lose heart, courage, and compassion, and choose to prefer showing our riches among siblings in the bed-rooms of our comfortable heritage. In the final analysis I think I recognize the risk of "indiscriminately tossing what’s divine" and wasting valuable energies on some who are content to stay "unclean". And I understand that "every soul won’t know and some may turn to trample me." But toward the middle and end of the poem, I tried to show that the danger of leaving kindred in the "worldly mires" is more grave than possibly being trampled. And so, being imperfect as we are, and lacking wisdom as we do, we often misjudge causing "good pearls" to fall. But until the Spirit finishes his work in me of making me more and more discerning and wise, for these (my lost brothers and sisters) "good pearls must fall with prayer". Thanks for all of your comments on this one. Stephen. [This message has been edited by Stephanos (edited 02-22-2001).] |
