The Crimson Sky

The funeral pyres were lit,
casting a crimson glow across
the skies.The mourners huddled
closely to say their good byes

The smoke wafting skyward,
heaven bound.  Once in awhile
there was a crackling sound,
The release of a tormented soul.
At peace, at last, no longer earthly
bound.

It was but little comfort to those
left behind, they were not ready to
justify their loss in their own mind.
Nothing but time would soothe the
jagged edges of the torn apart hearts,
life can sometimes be very unkind.

But somehow, someway, those
left behind do heal. And are once again
able to pull out all the memories  tucked
away that right now are too hard to think of
and feel.                                    nona

nona,

After our sun sets into the crimson sky,
God never fails to rise the sun again bringing a new tomorrow.
As you stated, time is our best healer and those memories
that now are too hard to bare, will one day become chrerished.
Thank you for having the courage to share and I do believe that
expression is a wonderful way of bringing healing into our lives.

God Bless You,    Bob <><

Nona ~ What a wonderful piece to bring some comfort, knowing that somehow, someday, His love and those memories will get us through.  Bonnie

Nona, this is beautiful.  It is one I should like to share with the "Hope for Healing" group in my town.  May I?

It also makes me think of a book title I saw more than 30 years ago.  I do so wish I'd read the book.  It was "Tears Are for the Living," and it's no longer in print.  But the title has always said so much to me.

Please e-mail me if I may have permission to use your poem.

Very well put! I haven't had a chance to welcome you, so I'll take that chance now.
WELCOME!

It is amazing what time can do for wounds.
I'm sure this piece of writing will help many.
