The Message
Virginia Salter

he began
with a request
‘imagine you’re on a hilltop
Jesus is with you
imagine your joy’

“Oh, this was good!
I’m there!”

“I’m here, Lord!
eager, oh, so eager!
listening to Your Word
hanging on every syllable
eager to do Your will”

then
he asked us to leave
leave the hilltop
be set apart
as a witness

he wanted us to come down
walk into the valley
bring the message
for those to hear

bring the message
in words they would understand
convey His love
bring glory to His name

he asked
just as Christ had commanded
to go and make disciples
but,
but I wanted to stay,
stay and listen

then by His Spirit
a whisper:
Christ left, saying,
“if I did not go,
the Comforter would not come”

then by His Spirit
shall I go
and never alone

Gosh, I get so buisy that here it is Tuesday and I'm just getting around to Sunday's message. How lovely to be on the hilltop with Jesus. I know that the Comforter is in reference to the Spirit of God but to me in your poem it seems that Jesus had to go for Us to be a comfort to others.... just a little personal insight that I gained by reading your poem. Thank you for the belated Sunday message. Love ya, Bob <><
