i love the quietness of Christmas
when the day is fast asleep
watching snowflakes skate
over rink of window pane
not even a sparrows little peep

the chorus of the firelight
singing a lullaby
i love the quietness of Christmas
and one piece left of pecan pie

the glimmer of a star
shining through the drapes
reminds me of the reason
Christmas we celebrate
reminds me of presents
frankincense, gold
and myrrh.. three wise men
following that shining star
to welcome the baby Jesus
in a manger of straw

i love the quietness of Christmas
watching the snowflakes fall
wrapped upon the couch
wrapped in grandmoms prayer shawl

Quiet moments amid the holiday rush are the ones when we are able to hear the voice of the one we celebrate HIS birth.  Nice read.

As I read your poem, I can hear my favorite Bing Crosby tune come to life... "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas... Just like the ones I used to know... May your days be merry and bright... And may all your Christmas' be white.  I love how snow brings the world to a quiet hush... Kind of what I imagine it would be like to stand before the newborn Christ child.  Lovely images that your poem has left we with today.  God Bless You and Merry Christmas, Bob <><

You sure are bringing a quietness to the soul with your writing. It brings back to mind one I wrote last year, as I was outside shoveling snow, and the peace and quiet and stillness was just awesome. As the snowflakes fell, I just had to lay back in it all and wonder at the beauty.

So wise you are to enjoy the quietness of the season, reflecting on our Saviors birth.  I can just see you all cuddled up in Grandmom's shawl taking in the beauty of the night through the window.  Very nice.  Thank you and Merry Christmas to  you and yours.
