I know this is a little early, but it was a project I was requested to do for a friend. Only wondering if anyone thinks it is worth going forward with.

This Christmas, as you gather with those you know.
Exchanging gifts adorned with ribbons and bows
Reflect back through the years which you can remember.
Discover the meaning of this day in December.
Paint a picture within your mind of the day long ago.
Of the true birth of Christmas not the stories you know.
The night sky echoing with angels voicing
The glorious announcement, with songs and rejoicing
The shepherds go to worship the newborn babe
They found Him in a manger, not in a bed could he lay.
Even before His birth he was turned away.
There is no room for you, the Inn Keeper would say.
When this child became a man.
Amid sinners and devils, He would stand.
Casting out sickness, and pain from within
Teaching of repentance ,and forgiveness of sin
Through His life, a gift was tucked away.
To be unveiled on His dying day.
Upon a cross, He was hung to die
Not for His mistakes, but for yours and mine.
His blood and tears, were mixed with prayers from Him
That our heavenly Father would forgive us our sins.
He gave up His life, so that you may know too.
The love that the Lord God feels for you.
The gift that He gave, was not wrapped in disguise.
It was very expensive, for it cost him his life.
It can not be found under a Christmas tree.
It can only be found inside you and me.
Keep in mind this Christmas eve,
Without the birth of Jesus,Christmas would not be.

Thank you very much Melton. I appreciate your opinion. Like I said I knew it was a little early to post a holiday poem, but I had to get this one on to see of I should use it or not

gidget, as I started to leave the forum, your title, "The Gift" has got to be acknowledged!  Aren't we blessed for The Gift?  Thank God for sending, Jesus, The Gift;  yes, sweet child, your poem blessed me and a worthy message all year long. Marcy

Oh, thank you both for such kind words. I can never feel as if my poetry is a waste of time with such wonderful people who say such kind words about it.I am so happy that I can now use this site and my words to Glorify The Lord in my own way. And yes, Jesus is a Gift, and as any gift that is given even today, He can either be accepted and held as a treasure, or He can be put in the back of the closet and ignored. I pray that this year and every year after, those who have not yet done so will accept this Gift and allow Him to work in their lives and He will continue to Gift them with many blessings.
