TWELVE BRETHREN Twelve brethren fathered Israel, and Moses sent twelve spies. Our dear Lord twelve Apostles chose and shared with them His life. Twelve astronauts walked on the moon, and not a man has since. Each man of these outstanding was; still none was on two lists. 'Cause patriarchs don't act as spies, nor spies hear Jesus talk. Nor ever are Apostles apt to take a lunar walk. So don't feel bad that you are only you and nothing else. Remember, each important man is nothing but himself. |

Amen Kenneth...great message! We are all important being ourselves that is for sure! ~*~ Hell is not a place of fire and a devil with a tail and horns. But a place of torment because the light of God is gone. To escape this, accept the blood of Jesus Christ! ~*~ |

So very true! Love your message! Did you know that #12 stands for govermental perfection? That is the significance, Biblically. |

Thank you both. I know the number 12 is very significant in the Bible (as is the number 7). Both are the result of combining 3 (divine Trinity) with 4 (representing man). My daughter helped me greatly with this poem. Originally it only had the first 8 lines. I read it to my daughter, and she said, "I don't get the point." So I added 4 more lines. And she said, "I still don't get the point." So I added the last four lines. The last four lines clearly state the theme that that other twelve lines only imply. Fresh eyes can be so helpful in editing one's poems. |

Fresh eyes can definitely help! Numbers in the Bible all have a significance to them. 7 is spiritual completeness, as the earth was created in 7 days. And it has to do with the # of God. 4 is creative works...earth, 4 points on a compass...the winds, North, South, East, West. Actually #6 is what represents man. Man was created on the sixth day: and this first occurance of the number makes it (and all multiples of it) the hall-mark of all connected with man. He works 6 days. The hours of his day are a multiple of six. Great men who stood out in defiance of God (Goliath and Nebuchadnezzar and Anti-Christ) are all emphatically marked by this number. <*\\\>< Jesus is the reason for the season |

WhtDove, Of course, you're right. I knew that 7 and 12 had something to do with God's connection with man, hence my error. But you're right. It isn't God's connection with man, but God's connection with His creation. By the way is there any meaning to the number 17? For some unexplained reason I've always been drawn to it. I know that the number of fish that Peter caught in John 21 is 153, which is a triangle 17 by 17 by 17, but that's as far as I can go with it. I even wrote a poem about it called "Triangular Cows." |

Kenneth, as a matter of fact I do. Seventeen denotes a combination of spirit and order (10+7). It is the 7th prime number (as 13 is the sixth prime number). There are four perfect numbers... 3,7,10,and 12, have for their product the remarkable number 2,520. It is the Least Common Multiple of the ten digits governing all numeration; and can, therefore, be divided by each of the nine digits, without a remainder. It is the number of chronological perfection (7x360) I had a book about Biblical numerics, actually it is my dad's. I borrowed for a while, and it's quite interesting! Hope this helped you out! I'm not big on numbers, but you have a great creative poem with a perfect message. I believe Mary Chapin Carpenter sings "The stars may lie but the numbers never do" Great song, very little connection to your work - but I feel Lucky to have read it. Thanks. |

White Dove, I love numbers. I remember years ago hearing an old lady speak at a Baptist church. She had a large detailed model of the tabernacle, which she assembled as she taught about each part. She gave a series of lectures throughout the entire week, until the thing was completely contructed. Her husband had built he model and had toured the country giving these same lectures. She carried on his work after he died. She was really knowledgable about the various significance of numbers. She handed out mimeographed sheets telling the significance of each number. (Some numbers had no significance.) What is the name of your father's book? |

Kenneth I too have always loved numbers. The significance of those numbers in the Bible is just mind blowing! It blows me away because it really makes you look at what God has done! Things we never would have thought about. The name of this book is Biblical Mathematics...By Ed F. Vallowe. If you are interested in aquiring this book, it's readily available through the Shepherd's Chapel for $10. The address is...P.O. Box 416, Gravette, AR. 72736 |
