*  Silver & Dross  *

I’ve held what was silver,
But turned out to be dross.
I’ve tasted free fruit,
Couldn’t pay what it cost.

I’ve learned many secrets,
And seen what was shown.
A great many sights,
I wish I’d not known.

It’s been a long time,
Since I felt I was home.
As I’ve searched for my friend,
Who left me alone.

I’ve held back the tears,
Which haunt me at night,
With a promise from God,
“All things will be right”.

There’s not much I value,
In the midst of my life,
But to follow my Jesus,
Love my children and wife.

So I kneel now before you,
At the foot of the cross.
Knowing you can make silver,
When I only hold dross.

Poe; Wonderfully written poem of humility, surrender and faith. Thank you...the last lines were perfection. ellie

Summers haunting melody
that awakens
the butterflies,
calling them to join
the dance
in their silent song
of praise to God.

Wonderful poem which could be the testimonies of many, reminds me of the stories I heard this morning from a group of young ladies from Teen Challenge. It is too bad that some lives have to be lived in so much pain before they can find the one who heals broken hearts.

Welcome, welcome! This was a great poem!!!  Very touching and it's warmed my heart!

I hope you'll find a home here...I know we're all glad you came and posted!

He can certainly take the worst of things and turn them into gold. Our efforts no matter how bad they turn out are counted as Gold to Him, for the effort!  Loved it!
